Domino Machine’s patented Anti-Extrusion Ram Seal for Production Rod BOPs seeks to dramatically improve the BOP ram’s ability to prevent extrusion of the seal during situations where the ram experiences high pressure and high velocity at the same time. This is achieved by adding retention grooves in the ram and adding corresponding anti-extrusion ribs to the seal. The anti-extrusion ribs are locked in the retention grooves, thereby resisting displacement or extrusion of the seal from the ram, to maintain sealing effectiveness in spite of high fluid velocities developing during closure of the BOP.
